When the Ground Shifts: Practicing Grit in Fundraising

DateWednesday, September 30

About this session

Using Angela Duckworth's research from Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance as a guide, we will apply the key principles of grit to fundraising: staying anchored, normalizing setbacks, and remaining persistent. We will then explore how employing true grit can lead to rest and recuperation as you embed it into your systems and culture.

We will move from determining how we can increase grit in our individual lives to learning how to build it into our systems by creating a defined fundraising plan, noticing challenges with curiosity rather than disdain or judgement, and activating well-functioning systems that provide a strategic workflow informed by the team and not reliant on any one individual. By focusing on building infrastructure-based grit, we free individuals to focus on what they do best: building authentic relationships.
